How Many Times a Day Should I Brush My Teeth?

June 23, 2025

You should brush your teeth at least twice a day—once in the morning and once before bed. This helps remove plaque, food particles, and bacteria that can lead to tooth decay, gum disease, and bad breath. Brushing at night is especially important, as it clears away everything that’s built up throughout the day and protects your teeth while you sleep.

For even better oral health, consider brushing after meals, especially if you’ve eaten something sugary or acidic. Just be sure to wait about 30 minutes after acidic foods to avoid weakening your enamel.

Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste, and brush for two full minutes each time. Don’t forget to clean your tongue and floss daily too, brushing alone isn’t enough to keep your mouth truly healthy.
